There have been many versions of 1345/47 rue Ontario East — a mac bar, a Greek restaurant, a mac-and-Greek hybrid, even a bar/club where I could imagine Mariah Carey walking by and saying, “I don’t know her.” But now, it’s brand new beautiful Greek restaurant — with new owners, new energy, and a menu that is very delicious. The moment you walk in, the space feels warm and inviting — soft lighting, light wood accents, and subtle touches of blue that remind you of the islands. The decor is simple but intentional; nothing feels overdone. It’s the kind of place where you can stay a while — and you should. The food? Fresh, flavorful, and comforting. The souvlaki is perfectly grilled with that smoky char, the tzatziki is creamy and bright, and the fries — golden, crisp, and impossible to stop eating. Even the pita feels homemade. Every dish tastes like it was made with care and pride. Sure, Uber Eats is convenient and staying home is cozy, but nothing compares to sitting down at Souvlaki Authentique, having a meal, and soaking up the atmosphere. It’s the kind of restaurant that makes you forget the weather outside. A great addition to the neighborhood — and one worth supporting.

This is a spectacular Greek restaurant. The space is beautifully put together, lots of white and blue in patriotic homage to the Greek flag. The menu covers all of the Greek grill favourites. The pitas have a bit more variety with untraditional options such as a philly cheesesteak option. I went with the traditional Pita Onassis and it was so satisfying. The place wasn't busy so the server had time to converse, he was a very personable young man. I tried a side order of the potatoes as well and they were delicious, so perfectly seasoned. The pricing was reasonable too. This Greek restaurant checks all of the boxes, you will not be disappointed.

Food was tasty! Water was out but otherwise it was a pleasant experience.

So happy for this new restaurant in the neighborhood. Just tried the chicken souvlaki and so so good! Packed with flavour, moist and delicious chicken, beautifully put together with just the right amount of tomato and red onions, and topped with delicious tzatziki. Ordered takeout and the service was fast and friendly! I’ll be back!

Ordered gyros and poutine and it was good! I’m so glad the poutine looked golden instead of all the brown poutines everywhere else. The gyro meat was a bit salty and pricey but overall, it was authentic as it comes. Would recommend 👍
